German NBA prospect Ariel Hukporti has signed with United for the 2021-22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season via the League’s Next Star program.
The highly touted seven-footer will use his time in the NBL to prepare for the 2022 NBA Draft.
Hukporti won the MVP award at the NBA’s 2020 Basketball Without Borders Camp at NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago, ahead of a star-studded field including Josh Giddey, Kai Sotto and Tamuri Wigness. He also took out MVP honours in the Nachwuchs Basketball Bundesliga, Germany’s top U19 league, for the 2019/20 season.
Hukporti last played in the Lithuanian Basketball League, where he averaged 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season. Prior to that, Hukporti played for German side Riesen Ludwigsburg from 2018-2020.
The 19-year-old has represented Germany at numerous international tournaments including the 2019 FIBA U18 European Championships and at the 2018 and 2017 FIBA U16 European Championships.
