Melbourne’s top-of-the-table clash is one Jacob Chance believes will pose a different sort of challenge

Melbourne United’s league-best defence will be put to the test on Sunday as the Sydney Kings bring their high-powered offence into John Cain Arena.

MU has thrived when it comes to limiting their opponents, allowing just 82.7 points per game, while Sydney has focussed on putting up points in bunches, averaging 95.8 points a night and shooting more three-pointers than any other team.

These two disparate styles will make for a fascinating matchup that United assistant coach Jacob Chance says his group is fully prepared for.

Speaking on The Extra Pass podcast, Chance broke down how he sees the matchup playing out.

“Sydney bring their own different style of game style, (they’ve got) high level talent as you see with Adams and Hogg, Valentine, Hunter, all these guys and they’re certainly unique in the way they play,” he explained.

“It’s a challenge for some teams and we’ll start locking in on them as the week goes on. You’ve got to be on point with guarding your guy and we’re going to buckle down and make sure we’re defensively on point with our one-on-one’s.

“I think that the teams that have guarded them well have given them trouble and the teams that have let them drive and kick and shoot open threes have struggled and played into their hands a little.

“It’s a big test for us, we’re excited, whoever fronts up, we’ve got full belief in our group.”

With less than 500 tickets remaining, time is running out to make sure you’ve got your seat locked in for this can’t miss clash of league heavyweights.

Tickets are available here, or you can become a part-season member and secure your spot for a collection of United’s remaining home games.
