Michael Randall breaks down the best options for United players to pick up heading into Round 18

It’s looking like now or never for JLA in NBL SuperCoach.

United fans rejoiced as Jo Lual-Acuil Jr roared back into his first game in 20 days by destroying Brisbane with a career-high 33 points to go with 13 rebounds and adding 3 steals that translated to 60 NBL SuperCoach points — his best-ever return.

While he did have a little case of the second-game blues against Sydney, his 75 points for the round was captaincy material and he’ll now lick his lips for a match up with arch-enemy South East Melbourne.

It’ll be United’s first home game back at John Cain Arena in over six weeks and Big Jo loves playing in front of the Blue Army — and feasts on the Phoenix.

Consider this:

In each of his last five games against South East Melbourne, the 29-year-old has topped 40 SuperCoach points.

26-11 for 48 SuperCoach points

17-7 + 7 blocks for 46

30-9 + 3 blocks for 44

17 + 7 blocks for 41

13-11 + 4 assists for 40

That’s as dominant as it gets and, with a break even of just 14, the $339,300 is as cheap as he’ll be for the rest of the season.

Oh, and if you didn’t follow me into Luke Travers last week, he remains an elite option after racking up 75 points for the round, 54 of those coming against the Kings thanks to a 15-point, 10-rebound, double-double, laced with a gaudy 5 blocks and 3 assists. LT rose by $10,000 and now costs more than JLA. But, with a break even of 18, he likely won’t be cheaper than $346,900 again this season.
