Mattel and Melbourne United extend partnership to bring more play to the court in NBL26

Fans can expect more memorable gameday moments, concourse activations and mascot fun thanks to Mattel

Melbourne United today announced the extension of its partnership with global toy and family entertainment company Mattel, bringing iconic brands Hot Wheels and UNO back courtside for the NBL26 season.

The renewal strengthens the relationship, which started in 2024, and is built on a shared belief in the power of play to connect communities.

By taking Hot Wheels and UNO beyond the toy shelf and into live basketball moments, Mattel and Melbourne United are combining to create experiences that excites fans, drives connection and showcases the joy of play both on and off the court.

As an Official Partner, Mattel’s presence will be front and centre across the NBL26 season from community events to gameday.

Fans can expect more memorable gameday moments, concourse activations and mascot fun as well as social media integration, venue branding and giveaways as part of the expanded partnership.

Melbourne United CEO, Nick Truelson, touched on his excitement to further grow the relationship between the club and Mattel.

“When I look at what our purpose is as a club; to use the power of basketball to entertain, inspire and enrich people’s lives, partnering with a global brand like Mattel, and in turn Hot Wheels and UNO, makes absolute sense,” he explained.

“We’re thrilled to continue building this unique and fun experience for our fans.”

Tim Nolan, Senior Director - ASIA Regional Marketing at Mattel Asia Pacific, said the extension reflects Mattel’s commitment to taking its brands beyond the toy shelf and into meaningful cultural moments.
