Melbourne United is pleased to announce that the club has extended its partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) for the upcoming season.

TAC and Melbourne United remain committed to delivering road safety messaging to all fans and members, while also encouraging everyone to drive a car with a five-star safety rating.

Melbourne United Chief Commercial Officer, David Moore, said the club’s partnership with the TAC was important to ensure key messaging on road safety was delivered.

“We are delighted to have TAC on board for another campaign,” he told Melbourne United Media.

“We really appreciate the opportunity to partner and deliver the lifesaving and vitally important messages and education programs through this relationship. They do a great job of engaging with our fans also so plenty to look forward to.”

TAC Head of Marketing & Communications, Jo Whyte said it was crucial that they were able to speak a wide range a people through Melbourne United.

“The TAC is excited to again partner with Melbourne United for NBL21, allowing us the opportunity to take important road safety messages to the Victorian basketball community,”

“We are looking forward to working with Melbourne United to deliver vehicle safety messaging this season - encouraging Melbourne United members, supporters and sponsors to look up the safety rating of their current vehicle or if they are planning on purchasing a new vehicle to make safety a priority.

“You can head to www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au to check out vehicle safety ratings.”

With Christmas rapidly approaching, TAC is asking Victorians to spend the holiday season wisely using the help of their ‘Smartest Advent Calendar’, which features 24 days of tips, tricks and entertainment.

There is also a giant Advent Calendar on display at Federation Square, with its large digital screen showcasing new pieces of content each day.

David Moore said spreading the message around road safety – particularly at this time of year – was crucial to ensuring everyone enjoyed the festive period safely.

“The importance (of this campaign) cannot be overstated,” he said.

“A lot of people will be getting back on the road in big numbers for the first time in many months. We want them to do so safely and to enjoy a well-deserved Christmas with family and friends.

“Keeping road safety front of mind will play a significant role here so as a club we look forward to being actively involved in their campaigns.”
