The big-man has contributed well across the preseason

Melbourne United is excited to announce that 17-year-old big man Henry Sewell has been elevated from a training player to a Development Player for the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 season.

Sewell has had a busy offseason, playing in the NBA Global Academy games in America before returning home to help the Knox Raiders to a top-of-the-ladder finish in the NBL1 South.

Across the NBL1 South season, the big-man averaged 7.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Head Coach Dean Vickerman touched on how impressive Sewell has been in the lead up to NBL26.

“Henry is a great young Victorian talent, so to have him with us as a Development Player is really exciting,” he said.

“Similar to Joel Foxwell in the past, we think having Henry as a DP will help him progress as an athlete looking to explore his NCAA opportunities next year.

“For a 17-year-old, he provides a great presence in the paint and is continuing to grow the rest of his game.”

Sewell joins fellow youngster Dash Daniels as two of the league’s youngest players ahead of our Round 1 matchup with the Tasmania JackJumpers on 18 September.
