Off-season Games Wrap: Wilson helps Tigers continue climb up NBL1 ladder

With many league’s across the globe approaching postseason action, this weekend was full of intense games for Melbourne United’s stars.

Tom Wilson helped deliver the Melbourne Tigers a pair of victories in the NBL1 South, lifting the team up into third spot on the ladder.

On Saturday the scoring guard tallied 19 points against the NW Thunder, which he followed up less than 24 hours later with a 25-point in a demolition of Bendigo.

Also enjoying success was the Sandringham Sabres duo of Fabijan Krslovic and Tom Koppens, who extended their winning streak .

The pair combined for 28 points, 18 rebounds and four assists as they took down the Ballarat Miners at home.

Tanner Krebs experienced mixed results across his double-game weekend with the Ringwood Hawks.

On Saturday, the sharpshooter went on the road to squeeze out a one-point-win over the Keilor Thunder, while on Sunday, the Ballarat Miners ran over the Hawks at home by 41-points. 

Newly-signed training player Henry Sewell also fell to a large defeat, adding seven points and five rebounds in a losing effort against the Eltham Wildcats.

Internationally, Dash Daniels shook off a slow start to the FIBA U19 World Cup to help the Australian Emus record a double-overtime victory against Cameroon on Monday morning.

The 17-year-old knocked down a number of big shots down the stretch, while also getting his hands in to cause a key turnover in the final minute.

Australia’s final group-stage game will come on Wednesday morning against France at 1:15am.

In the NZNBL, Kyle Bowen’s Canterbury Rams fell for just the fourth time all season, losing to Taranaki by nine points on Sunday.
