As he prepares for his inaugural season with Melbourne United, Tanner Krebs is eagerly anticipating what he can learn from two of Australia’s most distinguished players.
Speaking on The Extra Pass, Krebs said the prospects of working alongside Matthew Dellavedova and Chris Goulding is something that made joining United an easy decision.

“Two legendary players in Australian basketball, it’ll be a privilege to play alongside them and compete with them,” he said.
“It’s extremely exciting, I can’t wait to get in amongst it and just be a sponge, just learn off these guys.”
Krebs, 27, had connected with the pair in passing, firstly with Dellavedova through their St Mary’s University careers, then with Goulding when the two matched up in the NBL.
“I’m excited to get to know them personally as well, I’ve had a little bit to do with Delly with that S Mary’s connection but not a whole lot and the same as Goulding, we’ve just been rivals really playing against each other,” he continued.
“It’ll be nice to be on the other side of that and get to know them and build relationships with them and hopefully that can carry onto the court and we can feed off each other.”
While Krebs is set to represent Australia on the senior level, he did don the green and gold in 2015 at the FIBA U19 World Championships.
Playing alongside future NBL stars like Jack White, Dejan Vasiljevic, and Jack McVeigh, Krebs showcased his skill in Australia’s final game, topping the nation in scoring with a 31-point outburst against Spain.

Looking back on the game, the sharpshooter laughed, expanding on his mixed emotions from the performance.
“It was a lot of fun, I just got looks that game, I don’t know why, it just happened to be that game. I was getting open shots and I was able to knock them down.
“Everyone talks about the 30 points, but I think I had like eight or nine turnovers that game… Adam Caporn was our coach and I remember he had such mixed emotions because I kept turning the ball over but the next time down I’d make a three so he didn’t know what to do, I felt bad,” he chuckled.
Whether a Boomers selection is in his future remains undecided, however excitement is high ahead of seeing the Tasmanian native take to the court for United next season.
