Melbourne United CEO Vince Crivelli to move to NBL at season’s end

Melbourne United has announced that Chief Executive Vince Crivelli will end his tenure at the club at the completion of this season, to become Chief Operations Officer of the National Basketball League.
Crivelli has played an instrumental role in building Melbourne United since its inception in 2014 and helped guide the club to its inaugural NBL Championship in 2018. He will assist with the transition to his successor at United before beginning his new role at the NBL.
“The last eight years have been the most rewarding, exciting and enjoyable years of my professional life. Working alongside and with such an incredible group of talented, committed, proud and competitive people both on and off the court has been a privilege and is something that I have been truly humbled by. We have laid the foundations of what will be a great club for many years to come and one that can be enjoyed by all stakeholders alike” Crivelli said.
“Together we’ve developed a championship-winning culture, a strong membership base, a suite of corporate partners and a world class entertainment product including iconic events like the open-air Boxing Day game played in front of sell-out crowds at John Cain Arena.
“I am so grateful to have had an opportunity to play a role and I sincerely thank everyone for their support, guidance and commitment along the way. Our growing fan base and committed sponsor partners have shown incredible support and patience with us throughout and I will cherish those relationships and shared experiences along the way.
“From winning a Championship together to touring the globe competing against the best or working in our local community to make a small difference in our world, it has all been such a privilege and thrill. Thank you.”
“We are in an enviable position both on and off the court and I believe this is the right time to take up my next challenge at the NBL and to continue to help grow the league during what is an exciting time for Australian basketball.”
Melbourne United co-chairman Craig Hutchison said Crivelli was one of the true pioneers of the NBL’s incredible transformation and had been a leader respected by the entire competition.
“Vince has done a simply remarkable job building and shaping Melbourne United to the club that it is now,“ Hutchison said.
“His heart, energy, and leadership have blazed the path for Melbourne United and built a platform for sustained success.
“Vince has always given of himself to the entire competition and its fitting that the NBL and all other clubs will now get to benefit in his wisdom and knowledge of the broader game.
“We congratulate him on the role – one that will be essential to build on the growth of the game and partnership between clubs and league – and thank him enormously for his commitment and leadership during eight years at United.
“Vince will now assist with the transition to his successor to ensure that we are well placed to tackle the challenges and opportunities, and hopefully our team can express its gratitude on the court deeper into the season with some success.”
The club would like sincerely thank Vince for his incredible service and work during his tenure at Melbourne United, and would also like to recognise and thank Vince’s wife and family.
