Melbourne United NBL1 Recap

Written by Melbourne United Media
With Melbourne United’s NBL22 season over, a number of players have joined their NBL1 teams to continue honing their craft over the offseason.
Let’s take a look at how some of United’s players went as they took to the court for the first time with their new teams.
David Okwera
After his first year within the United system, David ‘Dsav’ Okwera decided to stay close to the club, joining the Sandringham Sabres to be coached by David Barlow and Rhys Carter.
In his pair of games over the weekend, Dsav flashed his athleticism and explosiveness, averaging 13.5 points and 11 rebounds, while filling the stat sheet with assists, steals and blocks.
David Barlow
Taking up coaching duties with his childhood club at Sandringham while also remaining an active player, Barlow has got a lot on his plate this season for the Sabres.
DB appeared in just one of Sandringham’s two games, tallying four rebounds off the bench in a loss to Frankston.
Zac Triplett
After shining in limited minutes for Melbourne, Zac Triplett is looking to continue his growth into a dangerous shooter leading into NBL23.
Triplett scored 20 points in his debut for the Keilor Thunder, who went down to Justin Schueller’s Geelong Supercats.
Davo Hickey
Another United DP making his debut with a new NBL1 squad was Davo Hickey, who went to work in limited minutes for the Casey Cavaliers.
Davo scored 13 points in just 13 minutes, while adding five rebounds in a tough outing against the Mt Gambier Pioneers.
