Brad Newley put together one of his best performances of the NBL1 South season over the weekend, lifting Frankston to victory in a top-of-the-table clash with Eltham.

Newley led from the front, scoring 23 points and pulling down four rebounds in the home win, which propelled the Blues back into first place in the conference.

For Eltham and Cal Dalton, it was a weekend to forget. Despite a pair of strong performances from the big-man, who averaged 19 points and 8.5 rebounds in the round, the Wildcats dropped both their games on the road against Frankston and Bendigo.

Passing Eltham on the ladder was Sandringham, who continued their winning streak and moved into third-place in the conference with a win over the Cavaliers in Casey.

Campbell Blogg shot well, scoring 12 points, while David Barlow contributed four points and six rebounds off the bench.

Unlike the Sabres, Zac Triplett and Keilor were unable to continue their winning ways, dropping their matchup against Knox by a wide margin. Triplett managed 13 points and three assists in the game.

Rounding out United’s NBL1 participants was Malith Machar, who put together another dominant performance in the Central conference.

The recently-signed Development Player tallied 21 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in a 27-point win over South Adelaide.
