Despite starting the season with a pair of losses, Melbourne United are taking plenty of positives away from their first two games.
Against the Sydney Kings and South East Melbourne Phoenix, the defending champs have fought back from 21 and 18 points respectively.
This resilience is something that fans and opposing teams can expect all season according to United Assistant Coach Justin Schueller.
“We know we’re never going to lay down and die, we’re going to find ways to make changes and get better, '' he told Melbourne United media after the game against the Phoenix at the weekend.
“You can expect us to be better.
“We know we’re close, we know we’re getting better. From a coaching perspective, we don’t want to be in those holes and have to bounce back.
“For us we’ve just got to make sure we’re improving every step of the way, we’re two games in… we feel like we should be 2-0, not 0-2.”
While Melbourne has lost its opening two games, both contests were tight in the closing moments, despite the side playing without two of it’s key players.
United fans should feel positive moving forward, with captain Chris Goulding expected to return on Thursday at John Cain Arena against the Sydney Kings, and Jack White scheduled to potentially return before the end of the year.
Tickets for Melbourne’s final two home games of 2021 are on sale now, as well as memberships available to see all 13 remaining United home games this season.
