Melbourne United import Caleb Agada has praised the work of the club’s trio of Development Players - Zac Triplett, David Okwera and Will ‘Davo’ Hickey, following the first two games of the 2021 Hungry Jack’s NBL Blitz.
Speaking to Melbourne United media, Agada said he feels energised seeing each of them come in and impact the game in a positive way.
“I love the young guys,” he said.
“When Zac’s hitting shots, that’s big for me… (Okwera) getting rebounds, Davo playing comfortable and confident, when I see that type of stuff, it gets me energised and pumped up to keep playing.”
Okwera and Triplett each scored four points in limited minutes, with the latter adding six rebounds, while Hickey stepped up when he needed, sinking a big three-pointer to tie the game, punctuating a Melbourne comeback in the third quarter.
The on-court results from Triplett, Okwera and Hickey are a result of hard work in the training gym according to Agada, who has watched them grow throughout the preseason.
“They’re here, every morning ready to work,” he continued.
“I see them growing every day. In games they just do what they’re told, which is exactly what this team needs. We need these guys to be sponges, listen, and try and grow. That’s going to help them a lot in their careers.”
The best way to watch all of Melbourne’s DPs going forward is to UNITE behind your team and become a Melbourne United Member.
