School Academies
The Melbourne United School Academy is a structured basketball program delivered within your school, giving students regular access to quality coaching and the opportunity to develop their skills over time.
The program is designed for schools looking to provide a consistent basketball opportunity for their students without needing to manage the program themselves. Melbourne United delivers the coaching and administration, while students train regularly in their school environment.
Through regular training, students develop their basketball skills while building confidence, discipline and positive habits around preparation, teamwork and accountability. They also gain an understanding of what it takes to improve, and the commitment required in a high-performance environment.
Each School Academy is designed around the school’s facilities, timetable and student demand, with training groups structured according to ability and numbers.
How it works
- The academy is delivered independently by Melbourne United as a third-party provider.
- There is no direct cost to the school, students register and pay individually to participate.
- Melbourne United manage registrations, payments and program communication.
- Sessions can run multiple times per week, typically before school, depending on court availability and student demand.
- Students can experience the program through free lunch time or after-school trial sessions before registering.
- Students are grouped according to ability and numbers to provide the right level of challenge and support.
- The program operates across two semesters each year, with each semester delivered as a 10-week block.
What we ask from schools
To support the program, schools provide:
- Access to suitable basketball court/s at no cost to Melbourne United
- Support promoting the academy and free trial sessions to students and families
