Barlow to teammates: ‘I love all of you guys’

After officially announcing his move from the court to the coaching bench, David Barlow took time to thank his teammates and touch on how grateful he is for those who have made his 20-year career what it was.

Speaking to media surrounded by his teammates following Thursday’s training session, Barlow delivered a heartfelt message to those around him.

“To be honest, I love all of you guys,” he said.

“I just wanted to tell you all that I’m joining the Melbourne United coaching staff which I’m just incredibly grateful for and excited about.

“I consider myself incredibly lucky to have been able to experience all that I have as a professional basketball player. What it’s given me… I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.”

Head Coach Dean Vickerman also fronted the media, adding his appreciation and respect for the United and Australian basketball legend.

“He’s been an elite leader in my time, for the five years I’ve been with him.”

Barlow will travel with the team for its pair of preseason games against the Brisbane Bullets in Ballarat and Casey
