A pair of huge games lead into public holidays for Melbourne United fans

It’s a known fact that every Victorian loves a public holiday.

We've get to enjoy a lot of them, with two of the favourites among sports lovers being the eve of the AFL Grand Final and the Melbourne Cup.

While each and every Melbourne United home game is a can’t-miss affair for basketball, a pair of blockbuster midweek contests leading into these public holidays stand out heading into the season.

The first comes in United’s season opener, as Melbourne plays host to rivals the South East Melbourne Phoenix on Thursday 28 September from 7:30pm in Throwdown XXI.

Having won six of the last eight Throwdowns, this matchup shapes up to be another hard-fought contest between the bitter adversaries.

Serving as not only the perfect way to open United’s season, the game is positioned before the AFL Grand Final public holiday, providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy a night out with the family ahead of the mammoth sporting weekend.

The same can be said for Melbourne’s only other midweek game, a huge clash against long-time competitors the Perth Wildcats on Monday 6 November, the night before the Melbourne Cup,  from 7:30pm.

United are looking for a huge crowd to help them continue their dominant form over the Wildcats, having won 12 of their last 16 meetings dating back to 2019.

With so much excitement already surrounding United’s group, the time is now to make sure you’re in attendance at John Cain Arena when their campaign kicks off on September 28 against the SEM Phoenix.

Tickets to each and every MU game are ON SALE NOW, while full season memberships are nearly SOLD OUT!

Over 85% of memberships have already been exhausted, so if you want to make sure you’ve got your seat locked in for each and every United home game, become a member today.
