Melbourne United veteran David Barlow has re-signed with the club on a one-year deal, in what will be his seventh season with the club.

Barlow, often praised as the epitome of what it takes to be a professional sportsman, won his fifth NBL Championship with Melbourne United in NBL21.

The 205cm forward played a pivotal role in the Championship-winning squad by providing an offensive punch off the bench, highlighted by shooting a career-high 48.4% from 3-point range. Barlow finished the season as the most efficient offensive player in the league in NBL21, averaging 1.17 points per possession, while also being relied upon as an elite-level defender.

Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman said: “At the start of every season when we go to put together a new team, Barlow’s name is always one that goes up straight away.”

“To have not only his basketball ability as part of this squad, but also his knowledge of the game, means that he is a huge asset for this team.”

“He (Barlow) was great for us last season, both on and off court. He has the ability to defend, shoot the basketball really well and also provide wisdom and leadership when required.

“He also provides a great link between the playing group and the coaching staff, providing a unique insight that makes everyone around him better.”

“We’re really excited to have him returning to Melbourne United once again.”

With the NBL Free Agency period now underway, Melbourne United’s attention is now focused on rebuilding a highly competitive roster for the NBL22 Season.

Melbourne United fans are also encouraged to sign on with the club, with NBL22 Membership expressions of interest now open.
