Melbourne United star guard Matthew Dellavedova is anticipating a roaring crowd for his home debut, and he couldn’t be more excited.
Stepping onto the court at John Cain Arena on Wednesday afternoon to promote Throwdown XIII: Delivered by DoorDash alongside SEM Phoenix’s Kyle Adnam, Delly spoke about his expectations ahead of Sunday afternoon’s contest.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of a full, packed, loud crowd,” he said.
“This is an incredible venue… I’ve heard a lot from the coaches and the boys about what it’s going to be like, and I’ve heard a lot about the fans at John Cain Arena.”
Coming off his first taste of the rivalry, a hard-fought, two-point pre-season loss to the Phoenix, the former NBA Champion told media on Wednesday that he is ready for another physical matchup.
“It’s going to be an intense, physical battle,” he continued.
“They got us in the pre-season the other day, so we need to get this one on Sunday.”
United hold the advantage in the rivalry, having won eight of the 12 previous Throwdown games, including back-to-back victories to knock Phoenix out of the NBL21 finals.
Sunday’s home opener will also be a special occasion for Melbourne fans, as the club will raise it’s NBL21 Championship banner into the rafters.
Tickets are available for Sunday’s game here, however the best way to make sure you don’t miss any of United’s 14 home games at John Cain Arena is to become a member here.
For those looking to ELEVATE their game day experience, premium hospitality packages are also available.
