DrinkWise Preview: NBL24 - Round 10 vs Brisbane Bullets

Melbourne United will look to return to the winners circle on Sunday afternoon when they face off against Brisbane at home.

Having won their past nine meetings with the Bullets, MU will hope to pick up another victory and further solidify their spot on top of the competition ladder.

For the visitors, a pair of Round 9 wins has Brisbane riding a wave of momentum that they hope will carry them to their first W against United since March of 2021.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Set to suit up for the 250th time for United, Chris Goulding would want nothing more than to help contribute to a strong team victory on Sunday afternoon.

Playing his 9th season with MU, ‘CG43’ has continued to confound defences with his unreal shotmaking ability.

Goulding currently leads the league in three-point makes (57) and ranks sixth in scoring average (19 points per game).

Heading into Sunday, look for United’s captain to hunt his shot once again while opening up opportunities for his teammates all over the court.

KEY MATCHUP

One of the league’s best perimeter defenders, Shea Ili will have to be up to the challenge once again on Sunday when Nathan Sobey hits the court.

Currently in the midst of a strong scoring campaign, Sobey will be hoping to get back on track against Melbourne after posting two of his three lowest scoring efforts this season in Round 9.

This will be no easy task when matched up with Ili, who has been a handful at both ends of the court across NBL24.

Ili’s ability to get all the way to the hoop and draw contact has seen him enter the league’s top-five in free-throws made, while allowing him to attract the defence and find his teammates for open looks (59 assists, fourth in the league).

THE OTHER GUYS

Featuring a wealth of talent, the Bullets lineup has the potential to hurt opponents from all over the court.

Import wing Chris Smith has been on fire of late, knocking down 14 triples across his last four outings, while the backcourt of Sam McDaniel and Mitch Norton have locked down opposition guards.

Inside, the three-headed monster of Harrison, Baynes and Zikarsky have looked elite, protecting the hoop with force and commanding attention in the paint.
