Melbourne United are known for having some of the most passionate and engaged fans in all of Australian sport, and they have once again proved their commitment to supporting their team.
Having not played a home game since December 23, the MU faithful simply cannot wait to see one of the NBL’s hottest teams return to John Cain Arena.
United have one regular season home game left scheduled for February 5 against the Adelaide 36ers, and for all those yet to secure tickets, you’ll just have to cheer on from a TV screen as the game has officially SOLD OUT.
With 19 days until the game, this is the earliest a United game has ever sold out.
Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson said the sell-out should come as no surprise.
“We know we have the best fans in the league and some of the best fans in all of Australian sport,” he continued.
“Our fans, members and corporate partners have stuck by us throughout this entire season, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them again when we play Adelaide in what could be a season-defining game.”
These sentiments were echoed by Melbourne United Membership Manager Fiona Gant.
“In over eight years with the club, I have never seen a game sell out this far in advance,” she said,
“Speaking with members over the past few weeks, there is an incredible level of excitement about this game. After such a long break because of the tennis, people just want to see their team back on the court.”
This is United’s fourth sell-out of the season, and continues the upward attendance trend, with crowds returning in droves.
While the excitement over the game of Feb 5 is building, United will get their second look at Adelaide on Saturday evening when they head on the road to challenge the 36ers.
Fans can tune in on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
