United’s captain praised his teammates for their ability to step up in huge moments

While another huge performance from Melbourne United captain Chris Goulding commanded much of the media attention following MU’s Throwdown XXII win on Sunday, the sharpshooter made sure to give his teammates their flowers following the game.

Speaking in the media conference, Goulding touched on Flynn Cameron's career-best performance, while talking broadly about how the work ethic of United’s young players has fuelled their success.

“I’m really proud of the way he handled himself tonight,” Goulding said of Cameron.

“For a lot of guys it was a big game, a big opportunity. The best thing that I see with that is that he (Cameron) is a worker; he works, and he works, and he works.

“The way I think, that’s why you work, so that when opportunity presents itself, you’re there to take it and grab it and that’s what he did, so it doesn’t surprise me one bit.”

The young Kiwi guard finished the game with 14 points and eight rebounds, while fellow rookies Kyle Bowen and Campbell Blogg came in to combine for six more boards.

United fans will get another chance to see these young stars put together more strong performances on Sunday as Melbourne host the Sydney Kings at John Cain Arena.

Set for the final game of Round 7, the top-of-the-table clash will be MU’s chance to push even further clear of the competition heading into the FIBA break.

With less than 1,000 tickets remaining to the contest, make sure you get in quick to secure your seat to the always entertaining rivalry game.
