Fans will be treated to three additions of the Bass Strait Battle across the remainder of NBL25

The burgeoning rivalry between last year’s Grand Finalists will reach another level in NBL25, with the three mouthwatering matchups between Tasmania JackJumpers and Melbourne United to be dubbed the ‘Bass Strait Battle’, powered by Marinus Link.

This Saturday’s highly anticipated Round 2 clash between the two clubs at MyState Bank Arena will mark the first edition Bass Strait Battle, powered by Marinus Link.

“Over the past few seasons it’s been great to see a really healthy rivalry develop between our two teams on the court, and to celebrate that through the launch of the ‘Bass Strait Battle’ is an exciting moment,” Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson said.

His sentiments were echoed by Tasmania JackJumpers CEO Christine Finnegan.

“We all know there was no love lost in last year’s Grand Final series. It is widely regarded as one of the most exciting series in NBL history and this season’s match ups are set to be just as thrilling,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to bring this concept to life with the help of Marinus Link, and to continue to bring the fans exciting battles against one of the NBL’s best teams.

The JackJumpers tip off the series this weekend, before the side meet again at John Cain Arena on December 23 for The Open Air Game and late in the season on February 1.

Marinus Link, the proposed undersea electricity and data interconnector between Tasmania and mainland Australia, will help power the rivalry with fan engagement activities, giveaways and in-game activations at each respective game.

"Marinus Link is thrilled to support the launch of the Bass Strait Battle. Our project will help deliver our renewable future and, like these games, strengthen the connection between Tasmania and Victoria," said Marinus Link Acting CEO, Andrew Hugo.
