How United can make the postseason

Ahead of Sunday’s game at John Cain Arena against the Adelaide 36ers, there’s only one question on United fans minds; how can we make the finals?

Despite Saturday’s loss, a number of scenarios remain that would see MU progress to the playoffs. See them below:

1. If the Perth Wildcats lose both their remaining games against Cairns on Friday and against Sydney on Sunday and MU beat Adelaide by under 42 points on Sunday, United would finish 6th.
   
   
2. The Perth Wildcats lose both their remaining games and MU lose against Adelaide. United can still finish 6th if Perth lose by 12 more points in their games (combined) than what United lose by. If there is a tie on percentage United would progress after winning the series against Perth 2-1 and finish 6th.
   
   
3. The Perth Wildcats split their games against Cairns and Sydney, however MU beat Adelaide while making up 12 points on Perth’s margins (IE their combined margins across both games, plus ours). If there is a tie on percentage, MU would advance, having won the series against Perth 2-1 and finish 6th.
   
   
4. MU can also advance, passing the Tasmania JackJumpers if Perth wins their games. Tasmania would have to lose to Illawarra on Saturday and MU beat Adelaide by a combined margin of 56 points to finish 6th.
   
   
5. If MU beat Adelaide by 41 points or more, United would move in front of SEM.
   
   
6. MU could still host a play in game (IE finish 5th) if two of the above happen (not including #2), particularly 1 and 5.
   
   
7. To finish 4th is mathematically possible, however three of the above scenarios would need to happen (not inc #2).
