Humphries impresses Vickerman across Blitz

Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman has praised new big man Isaac Humphries for his performance across the recent Hungry Jack’s NBL Blitz in Darwin.

After playing limited minutes in United’s opening game, Humphries stepped up in a huge way for his side across Melbourne’s next pair of outings, helping the team to a second-place finish in the preseason tournament.

Across those final two games, the talented seven-footer averaged 12 points and seven rebounds while shooting the ball at 75% from the field.

Speaking to MU Media after returning from Darwin, Vickerman said he was thrilled with what he saw from the man they call ‘Ice’.

“I thought (Humphries) was huge in the Perth game… and then we saw him play even better in the Brisbane game going up against Aron Baynes,” Vickerman said.

“His buy-in to the program has been fantastic. Now that he can get through what was probably the hardest week of the season, playing three games in five days, there’s going to be great confidence that he can handle what’s thrown in front of him.”
