Following Melbourne United’s hard fought win in Throwdown XIV, delivered by DoorDash over the South East Melbourne Phoenix, assistant coach Darryl ‘Dmack’ McDonald praised big-man Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. for his recent form.
JLA put together another player of the game performance against SEM on Thursday evening, finishing with a career-high 30 points to go with nine rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Over his last four games, the seven footer has been close to unstoppable, averaging 25.3 points (#1 in the league), 13.8 rebounds (#1 in the league), 2.5 blocks (equal #1 in the league), while shooting 68% from the field and 45% from deep.
All of this has led Dmack to end any discussion of who the best center in the league is, and perhaps end the discussion of who should be named league MVP.
“We know what Jo is going to give us. Over the last four games he’s been at an MVP level.
“Right now he’s got everything going. He’s giving us everything we need. The numbers he’s putting up, you don’t see that very often from that position. Right now he’s easily the best center in the game.”
Fans will get their next opportunity to see JLA continue his MVP form in a Sunday afternoon matchup with the New Zealand Breakers at John Cain Arena.
Set for the family friendly time of 3pm, family tickets of the game are 50% off with the password MU22FANFUN. Tickets are available here.
