Krebs debuts, Blogg balls out across busy weekend of NBL1

Melbourne United’s stars from NBL23 and NBL24 enjoyed great success over a busy weekend of NBL1 games.

It all started on Friday night when newly signed wing Tanner Krebs made his season debut for the Gold Coast Rollers, who picked up a big win over Cairns.

Krebs eased into the game, tallying 13 points and eight rebounds.

Further south, Campbell Blogg and David Barlow went to work for Sandringham, who came away with a victory over Geelong on Friday before backing it up on Saturday with another W against Waverly.

Blogg was especially impressive, averaging 15 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals across the two games, while taking home the ANZAC Medal as the game’s MVP on Saturday evening.

Another player who took home an ANZAC Medal to go along with back to back wins was Cal Dalton, who dominated Ringwood to the tune of 29 points, 11 rebounds and three assists on Friday.

Dalton and Eltham followed up this effort on Sunday with another victory, this time against Bendigo.

Brad Newley continued his hot start to the season with Frankston, registering another double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of huge rejections against Dandenong.

United’s lone NBL1 South player not to pick up a win was Zac Triplett, who scored eight points in a losing effort against Mt Gambier.

Across in the Central conference, Malith Machar put together a masterful defensive performance in a top of the table clash with South Adelaide.

Machar put the clamps on reigning MVP Alex Starling, while pouring in 16 points and 10 boards in the 69-68 victory.
