Landale, White find new NBA homes

Written by Melbourne United Media

Melbourne United Championship teammates Jock Landale and Jack White have both found new homes on the second day of NBA Free Agency.

Landale, who won the 2021 Grand Final MVP with United, inked a four-year, 32 million dollar contract with the Houston Rockets, with the first year fully guaranteed.

The Victorian native is coming off an impressive playoff showing, where he matched up with eventual NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic, averaging 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds across the six-game series.

For the time being, Landale joins former Melbourne Tigers star and Australian Boomers legend Patty Mills in Houston, after he was traded to the Rockets from Brooklyn.

Landale has recently been at Melbourne United’s home of Hoop City Cheltenham preparing for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Jack White has also found a new team, signing on with the Oklahoma City Thunder for two years.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">YES YES YES HAPPY SUNDAY. So proud of you <a href="https://twitter.com/5jackwhite?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@5jackwhite</a> <a href="https://t.co/DSyuJvcEl9">https://t.co/DSyuJvcEl9</a></p>&mdash; Melbourne United (@MelbUnited) <a href="https://twitter.com/MelbUnited/status/1675280973079117824?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 1, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Financial details are yet to be revealed, however the contract will see White join forces with potential Boomers teammate and former Adelaide 36ers rival Josh Giddey.

White is coming off a thrilling first season in the league, playing 17 games and winning a Championship with the Denver Nuggets.

Fans will get their chance to potentially see Landale, White, Giddey and Mills when the Boomers come to Rod Laver Arena for a set of FIBA World Cup warm-up games.
