Lee, Humphries acting as United’s ‘yin and yang’

Despite having only arrived in Melbourne just over a week ago, American center Marcus Lee has had no issues settling into his new surroundings.

Joining forces with former University of Kentucky teammate and close friend Isaac Humphries once again, Lee said the team has welcomed him openly, which has helped him quickly slot into his role.

“The energy has been great here. They’ve really welcomed me with open arms and with these guys (playing basketball) just feels a whole lot better,” he told media on Thursday afternoon.

“I think I’ve found my role pretty quickly, probably the fastest I’ve ever found it in a team. It’s just a smooth interaction coming in and out with Isaac where you get two different kinds of players coming in.

“You get (Isaac) that’s a bit more finesse… then you get me coming in that speeds up the pace, it’s a good yin and yang between us that can be that extra boost for a team.”

Having last shared the court with Humphries under the bright lights and high expectations of one of the highest profile colleges in America, Lee said he and Humphries are striving to create a similar atmosphere with United.

“(At Kentucky) it’s either win a championship or bust, that’s how you battled every day. That’s what sort of expectation we're trying to bring here.”

After playing limited minutes in his first outing, Lee will get his first opportunity to play in front of the Melbourne United faithful on Saturday during the club’s Member Appreciation Game.

Taking place on November 26, the day will feature wall-to-wall activities and events as a thanks to all MU members who cheer hard for United every single game!
