LISTEN: Chance breaks down goal to lead a ‘great defensive team’

With less than a month remaining until our first game back inside John Cain Arena, Head Coach Jacob Chance has laid out his desire for how his team needs to perform on a defensive end this season.

Looking at the talent up and down his roster for NBL27, Chance has outlined the importance of the defensive side of the ball, and how he works with his players to get the best out of them.

“Defensively is where it starts for me,” he told Jimmy Bartel on 3AW Sports Today on Wednesday evening. 

“I think every coach likes to think they have a great defensive team in pretty much every sport, but I think the clarity I can give players and the collaborative approach we have for that side of it certainly sets us apart.

“Our defensive identity will dictate how well we do. We’re fine-tuning those things, we’re working through it, but I like to think overall that I’m a very clear leader and try and give the players as much clarity as they need to go and do their job.

“When we get to Saturday night, they have a really clear picture of what it takes to live.”

Fans will get an opportunity to see how the team is progressing through their preparations for the upcoming season this Saturday when United face off against the SEM Phoenix from 7pm.
