Across his career, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr has been dominant when matched up against the SEM Phoenix

After producing one of the best performances of his career against Brisbane on Friday, Melbourne United fans will be hoping Jo Lual-Acuil Jr can replicate this form in Throwdown XXIV on Saturday night.

Matched up against the Bullet’s three-headed monster of Tyrell Harrison, Aron Baynes and Rocco Zikarski, JLA put up a career-high 33 points to go along with 13 rebounds and three steals, all in 23 minutes.

With the Throwdown only a few days away, Liam Santamaria broke down Lual-Acuil Jr’s monster game, while predicting the big-man to have another standout showing on Saturday.

“You want to talk about dominance?” Santamaria asked NBL Overtime co-hosts Cam Luke and Lanard Copeland.

“This was maybe one of if not the most dominant performance of the season. When he was out there, you just felt watching the game that he was unstoppable. He started to get a look about him saying ‘nobody can handle me’.

“It’s funny because this Brisbane team, they’ve got some (talented) bigs; Harrison, Zikarski, Baynes, no one could handle him at all. If he gets back to that level on a consistent basis, it’s going to be a huge problem for the rest of the league.

“He’s about to have a monstrous game on Saturday.”

In his last six games against the Phoenix, JLA boasts a 5-1 record while averaging 19.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.

Look for Lual-Acuil Jr to come out aggressive again on Saturday in United’s return to John Cain Arena.

While tickets to the rivalry matchup are sold out, fans can still tune in on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
