Following a successful Olympic campaign with the bronze medal-winning Australian Boomers, Matthew Dellavedova set his sights on an NBL Championship.
The 30-year-old Victorian returned to the US after leaving Tokyo, to re-join his family and to prepare to return to Australia. Having already announced his intent to join Melbourne United in the NBL, Dellavedova had the ability to participate in NBA free agency before finalising his commitment to Melbourne.
While the NBA remains a possibility in the future, Dellavedova saw the opportunity to play for the defending champions of the NBL as his top priority this season, while also spending more time closer to family.
Therefore, the club is excited to announce that Matthew Dellavedova is now officially locked in as a Melbourne United player for the NBL22 Season.
The NBA Championship-winning guard expressed his excitement to return to Australia as a Melbourne United player.
“I’m really excited to be joining Melbourne United – a Club coming off a championship and a strong team-first culture with a history of great player development.” Dellavedova said.
“Having played with a few of the boys before with the Boomers – Goulding, Barlow & Newley, I know it’s going to be a fun season."
“I appreciate the warm welcome from the fans and everyone at the Club and can’t wait to get the season going.”
Dellavedova recently returned to Victoria after completing 14 days of quarantine in Sydney as part of his process of re-entering Australia.
With Delly locked in for NBL22 now is the TIME TO UNITE. Join him and lock yourself in by becoming a Melbourne United Member today!
