Melbourne United Member Stories - The Cracknell family

It can be easy to be swept up in all the action surrounding a Melbourne United gameday.

From the outdoor activations, to the excitement of the pre-game show, United does all it can to put on a spectacular showing for its fans and members.

For the Cracknell family, who have been members across the past four seasons and recently received a surprise visit from Rayjon Tucker and David Barlow, bonding together as a family and taking in everything on and off the court has kept them coming back to John Cain Area.

“We absolutely love it,” Shaun Cracknell said.

“You’ve got fireworks, you’ve got cheerleaders, you’ve got the guys coming out and playing their hardest. We sit behind the bench and the emotion you can see from Dean and the team is amazing.

“There’s always action. I think Melbourne United put on an absolutely amazing show.”

Shaun along with wife Alicia and children Mason, Fleur and Heidi, are a basketball family, with each game acting as an opportunity to learn and grow their own games on the court.

“I just love basketball so much so being a Melbourne United member is amazing,” Mason said.

“I look up to most of the guards, I just try to watch them and model my game after them. I love Shea Ili’s defence, I love Tucker’s dunks, Rathan-Mayes can just do everything, they’re so cool to watch play.”

The Cracknells, along with United’s close to 5,000 members, will be celebrated on Saturday night as part of the club’s Member Appreciation Game.

Taking place on November 26, the day will feature wall-to-wall activities and events as a thanks to all MU members who cheer hard for United every single game!
