Melbourne United NBL1 Recap: Round 12

Written by Melbourne United Media

Yet another round jam-packed with highlights by Melbourne United’s NBL1 players this weekend, headlined by Makuach Maluach once again.

Makuach Maluach – Darwin

Makuach Maluach continues to prove his talents at the offensive end of the floor, helping his team to a 20 point victory along the way. The Salties punished the Rollers with Maluach racking up 32 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 35 minutes. United’s athletic new signing continues to stuff the highlight reel, this week even throwing down a reverse slam.

Shea Ili – Sandringham

It was a tough weekend for the Sabres, missing some key personnel to international duties, as Sandrigham went down to the Braves in Bendigo 67-81. Shea Ili still managed to get his own, however, putting up 19 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minutes.

David Barlow – Sandringham

Barlow was forced yet again to wind back the clock and fill the minutes at the 5 spot that were left behind by former teammate Tohi Smith Milner, who was off representing the Tall Blacks at the FIBA Asia Cup. Barlow managed 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 27 minutes.

Dion Prewster – Sandringham

The crafty kiwi was at it again, this time blazing away from behind the arc with 5 3’s. Prewster ended with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 34 minutes against the Braves.

Davo Hickey – Casey

Casey didn’t have the most successful weekend, going down to both Ringwood and Bendigo, but that wasn’t due to lack of trying by Davo Hickey. The guard did everything he could to help his team get the win, ending with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 35 minutes vs Ringwood, and 14 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals in 30 minutes vs Bendigo.

Melbourne United’s Jack White did not suit up for the Geelong Supercats this weekend, as he is still representing the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League. The star forward was recently announced as the Nuggets’ newest signing after securing a two-way contract with the NBA franchise.

Melbourne United fans will be watching the club’s announcements with great anticipation, with a number of players still to join the NBL23 roster, as well as the release of the NBL23 NBL schedule.

With the hype beginning to build for the upcoming season, Melbourne United Memberships are selling fast, with some categories already sold out. Melbourne United Memberships are the best and most affordable way for fans to watch the NBL and be part of their favourite club, so now is the TIME TO UNITE!
