Melbourne United will play the Cairns Taipans at 5:30pm on Good Friday, April 2nd at John Cain Arena. With the NBL season usually not in action at this time of year, this is the first time in recent NBL history that a game has fallen on Good Friday.
The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal has become synonymous with this date on the calendar, and are this year celebrating their 90th year. Since 1931, $381 million has been raised to deliver the best possible care to patients and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
Melbourne United announced earlier this week that the Club will donate $1 to the Appeal for every ticket sold to the game on Good Friday.
The Club is thrilled to announce that a number of our partners have also indicated their commitment to raising funds for the Appeal.
SodaStream, a long-term partner now in their 4th season with the Club, will match Melbourne United’s $1 per ticket sold to the game. Therefore, for every ticket sold to this Friday’s game, $2 will be donated to the Good Friday Appeal.
Two other partners of the Club, in Roll’d Vietnamese and DrinkWise, will both also contribute to the cause, donating $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
Melbourne United partner Sportsbet will also be involved in the fundraising efforts this Friday and will be donating $2,000 for every dunk made by either team during the game.
Melbourne United CEO Vince Crivelli said: “We’re so proud as a Club to be able to support such an incredible cause, in The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. “
“To also have our partners heed the call and offer such generous contributions to the cause is yet another example of the fantastic wider community that we have here at Melbourne United.”
“I would like to sincerely thank SodaStream, Roll’d Vietnamese, DrinkWise and Sportsbet for their kindness and generosity. I encourage all fans to get to the game this Friday to witness another Melbourne United win, and help us raise as many funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital at the same time.”
Tickets for this game are on sale now at Ticketek.com.au.
Fans are also welcome to donate directly to the Good Friday Appeal and can do so via the Melbourne United fundraising page here.
