Melbourne United is thrilled to announce the signing of former NBA guard Rayjon Tucker for the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.

The highflying American has spent the past three seasons splitting his time between the NBA, where he has played 39 games for the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets and most recently the Milwaukee Bucks, and the G-League.

Across his 61 career games in the G-League, Tucker has used his insane athleticism and quick trigger from deep to average 21.3 points, six rebounds, and over three assists per game, while becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Wisconsin Herd.

Standing at 191cm, Tucker plays well above the rim, an aspect of his game that Head Coach Dean Vickerman believes will excite fans and produce results on the court.

“He’s such an unbelievable athlete who has the ability to bring everything we were looking for to the table,” he said.

“He plays with a lot of energy, a lot of excitement, at 6’3 he plays a lot bigger than he is. We know he will bring in great versatility as a defender, being able to guard 1-through-4.

“We’ve played an above the rim style in the past with our guards, but this is a next-level athlete who will be able to fill some of the gaps we lost with Jack White.

“I think fans are going to be really excited by the power and athleticism he’ll bring to John Cain Arena.”

Equality as enamoured with the move is Tucker himself, who said he already feels a strong connection between himself and United.

“Meeting Dean, I could sense the winning attitude that he’s built in Melbourne,” Tucker said.

“This is a team that strives for excellence so it means a lot that they picked me to come in and be that guy to help push us over the top. I just want to build on the foundation that Dean has already built.

“I’m going to come in and handle business, because I’m a winner… I’m one of those guys that when the pressure comes, I play better.

“When you see me, it’s showtime. I’m an entertainer. My goal is to do everything I can to help us win and put on a show for the fans.”

Tucker will take up United’s first import slot, and joins Isaac Humphries, Makuach Maluach and Joshua Duach as new players on Melbourne’s NBL23 roster.

With the hype beginning to build for the upcoming season, Melbourne United Memberships are selling fast, with some categories already sold out.

United Memberships are the best and most affordable way for fans to watch the NBL and be part of their favourite club, so now is the TIME TO UNITE!

Single game tickets will go on sale Wednesday, 10 August via Ticketek. Keep an eye on the Club’s social media for more information.
