Memberships providing families with unforgettable moments

As the start of Melbourne United NBL25 campaign draws nearer, the excitement level coming from Members and fans continues to build.

For Jarrod McLauchlan and his family, United home games carry a special place in their weekly routine, providing an opportunity to all come together and cheer on their favourite players at John Cain Arena.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media as part of Membership Week, Jarrod touched on why his family keeps coming back as United Members each season.

“The biggest thing we’ve found is that the game day experience has consistently been phenomenal,” he explained.

“It’s become our ‘family time’ each week. We all love our basketball but the ritual of driving into town, walking over to John Cain Arena and immersing ourselves in the atmosphere is really special to do as a family.

“We’ve been lucky enough to have a couple pretty amazing experiences through the club, like having players visit our home and shooting hoops with our sons and getting to come into Hoop City to watch a training session and ask questions at the press conference.

“It’s things like that that have really cemented our connection and made us lifetime fans.”

After first signing up for the NBL22, the McLauchlan family have become more and more entrenched within United’s community of Members.

Now mainstays in their regular seats, Jarrod spoke about the sense of camaraderie he and his family feels being around fellow Members each week. 

“We started coming to individual games and loved it so much that we moved over to a Five-game Membership.

“After that, it was a pretty easy choice to shift to a full-season Family Membership. Getting to lock in our seats and really be a part of the United community was something we didn’t expect but really rewarding.

“You’re with the same fans every week, going through the rollercoaster of emotions during games, it really builds up a level of camaraderie.”
