United drop game two, as the Wildcats force a deciding game three at John Cain Arena on Tuesday night

United got off to a hot start in front of a packed-out RAC Arena, getting out to an early 20-point lead thanks to consecutive defensive stops and 6-8 3PM courtesy of Chris Goulding (3), Jack White, Ian Clark and Rob Loe (1). The visitors maintained an advantage, taking a 15-point lead into the first break.

After an incredible performance in Game 1 on Thursday night, Goulding continued his hot form with 11 first-quarter points.

But it was only a matter of time before the home team made a charge, and the Wildcats came out with a bang to start the second quarter.

Melbourne United countered, and continued to play solid team-first basketball, resulting in 18 first half assists (Dellavedova with 10), and took a 14-point lead into half time.

It was a true arm wrestle in the third, but with the league MVP Bryce Cotton dropping a triple on the buzzer, United’s lead was cut to 11.

Jack White got United off to a good start in the 4th with a triple from the opening set play, but the Wildcats managed to hit straight back with a 3 of their own from Tai Webster. The Kiwi guard followed it up right away with an and-1 play, and United’s lead was down to 8.

The Wildcats kept coming, led by Dylan Windler, and with the Red Army behind them, momentum was well and truly with the home team. Following some big plays from Perth, scores were all tied up with 4:37 left to play.

A Windler 3 put the Wildcats up for the first time in the game and the Wildcats never looked back, Perth taking the win in game two 96-89.
