While Melbourne United’s big-name recruits dominated the headlines for much of the NBL Free Agency period, some of the team’s younger incoming stars have been showcasing their ability since arriving at Hoop City.
Speaking on The Extra Pass podcast, MU Captain Chris Goulding highlighted the trio of Tanner Krebs, Flynn Cameron and Kyle Bowen as players who have most impressed him throughout the preseason.

“We’ve been getting the new guys into Hoop City and making them feel a part of it and for the most part (they’ve been) super impressive,” he said.
“The route that the coaches and the front office have gone down, especially this offseason, is just getting impressive young men to come and be a part of our team and our club.
“We just want a really solid competitive environment.
“When you come to Hoop City, let’s go, lock in, let’s compete for however long we’re here and after that let’s have a bit of fun, joke around. Let’s go out there and compete the right way where we know if it’s done correctly, it’s going to help us win games.
“We’ve been doing some stuff on court and they’re super competitive which we love. I’m really impressed.”
Cameron and Bowen arrived in Melbourne over the course of the last month, while Krebs has been with the team for close to two months after making the move from Brisbane.
Goulding has particularly been impressed by Krebs, a fellow Tasmanian, and expects him to produce big things during his time with United.
“He (Krebs) has had a few injuries in the past couple of years and I think he’s really determined to just get out there and show what he can do at NBL level,” Goulding continued.
“We have a lot of confidence in him coming in and being a great contributor for us. He’s playing really well, he’s shooting the ball really well at the moment in practice so we want to see that continue.”
The 27-year-old showcased snippets of what he’s hoping to bring to United last season with the Bullets, averaging 16.25 points on 40% shooting from deep over a four-game stretch in NBL23.
