Melbourne United’s pair of Sandringham Sabres stars have continued to roll across their three games in the NBL1 South’s Round 14, going unbeaten and extending their winning streak to 11 games.
First playing on Tuesday night, the duo of Fabijan Krslovic and Tom Koppens fought hard to overcome a game Keilor side at home by a single point.
They followed this up with a dominant 26-point win over Waverly on Friday evening, before closing the round with another slim victory, this time back at home against North West Tasmania.
The trio of W’s lifts the Sabres into third spot on the conference ladder heading into the final round.
Falling into fourth due to Sandringham’s rise was Tom Wilson and his Melbourne Tigers, who split their two games in Round 14.
The first of which came against Ringwood and Tanner Krebs, who tallied a triple-double as the Hawks took down Melbourne.
Wilson and the Tigers were able to bounce back on Friday evening however, registering a 10-point victory over the bottom-of-the-table Diamond Valley Eagles.
In Krebs’ second game of the weekend, the sharpshooter did everything he could to give his Hawks the best chance of winning, scoring 36 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists, however it was not enough to overcome the ladder-leading Knox Raiders.
Closing out the weekend of action was Kyle Bowen and the Canterbury Rams, whose NZNBL season unfortunately came to an end in the semi-final series against the Southland Sharks.
The bruising forward finished his first campaign in New Zealand averaging 10.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
