There aren’t many players heading into NBL22 boasting a more impressive resume than United forward David Barlow.
Since beginning his professional career in 2001 with the Southern Sabres and entering the NBL in 2003 with the Sydney Kings, the sharpshooter has been a part of five NBL Championships; two with the Kings and three with Melbourne.
Despite entering his third decade of professional play, Barlow remains singularly focussed on helping United repeat its success from NBL21.
“I’m super excited about our team and the opportunity we have in front of us at United,” he told Melbourne United media.
“My focus right now is on winning a championship with United. I can’t wait to get playing, I love my teammates, love the staff and love the club, and I hope we can replicate the success we had last year.”
This comes after the announcement that he would be taking on head coaching duties with his former club, Southern Sabres, come next NBL1 season.
Passing on the knowledge he has gained to the next generation of local athletes is a prospect that has Barlow very excited, come the end of his NBL22 campaign.
“I’m thrilled to begin my journey in that arena, especially with the club I grew up playing for.
“I feel like I've been very lucky to experience all I have in this game and I’m looking forward to passing on everything I’ve learned to a new generation of player and club.”
The best way to ensure you’ve got a great seat to watch Dave this season is to UNITE behind your team and become a Melbourne United Member.
