Melbourne United guard Shea Ili continues to add to his trophy case, taking home both the Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards for the NBL1’s South conference.
Coming off perhaps his best year in the NBL, Ili rode the wave of momentum into the NBL1 South, leading the Sandringham Sabres to 15 wins in his 16 appearances across the season.

The dynamic guard at times looked like he could do no wrong, putting up insane averages of 23 points (3rd in the conference), 5.7 assists (2nd) and 1.9 steals (8th) per game.
Ili unfortunately missed the Sabres’ finals campaign, stepping away from the club to lead the New Zealand Tall Blacks towards their sixth straight FIBA World Cup appearance.
Now back in Australia and training with United, Ili and his teammates will head to Ballarat for their preseason training camp, culminating with a clash with the Brisbane Bullets on Thursday 8 September at Selkirk Stadium.
