Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman has issued a warning to the league’s guards ahead of his side’s first preseason game.
As Vickerman and United prepare for their matchup against Cal Baptist University on Saturday evening, he welcomed Matthew Dellavedova back into the group following his omission from the Australian Boomers FIBA World Cup squad.
Speaking to media following the training session, Vickerman praised Delly's professionalism, crediting his dedication to his craft and teammates while previewing what people can expect from the Olympic star.

“He did absolutely everything he could to go and make that team,” he said.
“He misses out and he’s in here the day after he gets cut, he’s getting his body right, he’s talking about how to move forward with us and what it looks like.
“We know he’s going to carry a chip on his shoulder all year and Delly with a chip on his shoulder is something to be feared.”
Dellavedova, along with Goulding, who remains in Australia’s 13-man squad, returned to Melbourne United’s home of Hoop City, Cheltenham on Thursday following time in Cairns with the Boomers.
Seeing how the pair operate has been fantastic for incoming star Luke Travers, who lauded Goulding and Dellavedova for their leadership and professionalism.

“I think it’s unbelievable,” Travers said.
“Obviously super tough for Delly. It’s an unbelievable squad so to just be in there is really cool, but he’s in the next day after getting cut so it just shows the sort of professionalism those guys have to be back in here working on their bodies.
“To have them in my corner is pretty special as well so I’m looking forward to a full year of that and just learning everything I can.”
United are set to play their first preseason game on Saturday night against the Cal Baptist Lancers at Diamond Valley Stadium.
