Take a look at what stood out statistically from Round 2 right here

Welcome to STAT WRAP, Melbourne United’s weekly round-up of all the key stats from our games. Take a look below at who shined on the court, and the trends leading the way throughout the team.

WHITE ATTACKING INSIDE

Across Round 2, Jack White showcased his ability to be a primary scoring option for United this season.

White averaged 18 points and ten rebounds in our pair of games, all while only playing 26 minutes per game. The only other player in the league to score more points in less minutes was fellow former NBA player Montrezl Harrell.

The primary source of White’s points came in transition, with 17 of White’s 36 points coming as a result of his work pushing the pace down the court.

PERIMETER DENIAL

With the long-range make playing such a huge role in the modern NBL, it was a great sign that no team allowed fewer three-point makes in Round 2 than we did.

After the Phoenix made six of their first eight three-point attempts in the first quarter on Thursday night, Dean Vickerman’s group gave up just seven more triples over the remaining three periods of the Throwdown, and the entirety of the Bass Strait Battle.

TIGHTENING UP TURNOVERS

After turning over the ball 15 times in Round 1, our playmakers were able to tighten up their handle and limit mistakes in Round 2.

Against the Phoenix, the team registered just 10 giveaways, and while that number rose to 12 when matched up with the JackJumpers on Saturday, that still sits below the league average over the first 2 Rounds.

United’s stars will look to continue this strong play as they head into another double header Round, first facing off against the Wildcats in Perth on Friday 4 October from 9:30pm AEST, before returning to John Cain Arena for our home opener against the Cairns Taipans on Sunday 6 October from 2:30pm AEDT.

With so much excitement ahead of NBL25, the time is now to lock in your seats to see United’s return to John Cain Arena.
