Travers calling on fans to help fuel United

After a season which saw Melbourne United register the league’s best home record, the team’s stars are hoping to feel even more support come time for their Finals opener on Thursday evening.

MU finished the regular season with an 11-3 home record, winning by an average of 8.6 points per game and limiting opponents to just 43.7% shooting from the field.

Now with their Finals campaign about to kick off, young star Luke Travers took to the airwaves to call for fans to pack out John Cain Arena once again for Game One of their Playoff series.

Speaking on SEN 1116, Travers talked through how much of an impact his home supporters make each game.

“I feel like they’ve been so big for us all year,” he said.

“I know there’s not too many tickets left so if you haven’t already got them, go ahead and get them. We’re going to need every single person that we can get to help us out throughout all the finals so I’m looking forward to playing again.”

Having not played a game since 18 February, the NBA Draft pick says the time off has been a great opportunity for him and his teammates to hone their craft against each other and make sure they’re ready for whoever they face on Thursday night.

“It’s been a good chance to focus on ourselves,” he explained. 

“We’ve had a couple of intra-club games against each other which has been really good - Focusing on the things that we need to work on while still getting better at the things we do well.”
