Triple AFL Premiership winner swapping knowledge with United coaches

In our pursuit of an NBL Championship, Head Coach Dean Vickerman has always welcomed coaches from across codes to his practices in order to swap knowledge and grow as an elite sporting organisation.

This week, the club was lucky enough to be joined by Brisbane Lions assistant coach and three-time AFL Premiership winner, Dale Morris.

Across 14 years, Morris played 253 games with the Western Bulldogs before retirement, which saw him later join the Lions coaching staff, where he has won back-to-back AFL Premierships.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, Morris said he believes seeing how different clubs operate across codes is hugely beneficial.

“There’s a huge benefit in the cross-code experience with elite organisations like Melbourne United,” he said.

“The club and the organisation have clearly been doing a lot of things right for a long period of time to be where they’re at and to be this successful.

“When you’re a successful club, you want to find ways to stay at the top, so visiting and getting to experience what they’re doing at Melbourne United is only going to help us do that.

“Everyone is looking for that secret ingredient, and that’s where we can support each other and help each other.

“It’s been a great experience coming and having conversations with the staff. Hopefully it’s little things like this that can help us both get over the line.”

We are set to take the court for our next game this Saturday against the Brisbane Bullets from 7:30pm inside John Cain Arena.
