United embracing challenges of extended road trip

The defending champs are embracing the challenge of racking up as many wins as possible on the road according to star center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.

Speaking on RSN Breakfast on Monday morning, JLA said United are unfazed by their current six-game road trip, which they have won the first two games of.

Asked how Melbourne was faring with the ‘tough month’ of road games, Jo pointed out that battling hard in every game is what this organisation prides itself on.

“We don’t really look at it as a tough month, here at United we embrace challenges and we love challenges,” he said.

“For us this is a great opportunity to go on the road and get some wins before we have some good home games.”

Anchoring the league’s top defense, the reigning NBL Sixth Man of the Year added that he believes United will continue to get better, despite their four-game winning streak and league-leading percentage.

“I think we’re in a good place, but we still have a lot of growing to do as a team.

“I think we all know we’re a new team. The good thing is that the results are starting to come in now, but I feel like we haven’t reached our full potential offensively.

“I think our defense is starting to click, and once the offence catches up and we’re all really in sync and flowing, it’s going to be really scary.”

Big Jo will have his hands full in Melbourne’s next contest, a matchup with Duop Reath and the Illawarra Hawks in Wollongong on Sunday afternoon.

United fans can watch the game live on 10Peach, 10Play, Kayo Freebies and ESPN.
