The majority of United’s NBL26 local contingent came together on Tuesday ahead of NBL26

With the beginning of the NBL26 season less than two months away, a portion of our stars have come together with the coaching staff to begin pre-season training camp at Hoop City Cheltenham.

With the majority of our local contingent in the building, the foundations of what we hope to achieve in NBL26 were laid.

Speaking following the session, assistant coach Jacob Chance broke down the positives to come out of the day.

“It was a fun first day, obviously our unofficial day one of training camp with a lot of guys that are familiar to what we do here, as well as some new faces,” he said.

“To have a big part of our local core here ahead of NBL26 as we start to plant the seeds of what we’ve done well for a really long time, as well as digging into some of the areas we see as some of the big emphasis points for the year, was great.

“Building connections, integrating key aspects of what we want to do into our play, and getting out there and trying stuff in the early developmental stage was a lot of fun.

“To see all our guys come in having walked different paths over the offseason, whether it be just getting extra reps in, having a much needed break, or working on any technical or physical areas they wanted to is really encouraging.

“Seeing them come in today and put that work out there in front of us on the floor was exciting. We obviously still have a lot of work to do, but taking this first step is always positive.”

The remainder of the playing group are expected to arrive in Melbourne within the next few weeks, giving us a long runway into the season to gel as a team.
