United Member Spotlight - McCroary Family

Doing things as a family is fun. Especially when that thing is watching Melbourne United win championships.

That is what young Connor McCroary and his family have enjoyed since becoming Gold Members last season and watching United's spectacular title run.

Connor, alongside brothers Tyler and Xavier and dad Adam, had been going to United games for around four years before they ultimately decided to become members.

The quartet, who can often be found shooting hoops in their front yard, have been to nearly every game this season, cheering hard for the defending champions.

Connor spoke about his family’s love for basketball and Melbourne United when they were surprised by Chris Goulding and Ariel Hukporti during a Member home visit to celebrate United’s upcoming Member Appreciation Game.

“We’ve only missed the one game this year, it’s been awesome to be back at live games,” he said.

“We all just love watching basketball… The atmosphere is pretty cool, I love how you can almost interact with the players, you just feel so close.”

While he loved last year’s side, Connor has quickly warmed to some of United’s new additions in NBL22, as well as the rise of Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.

“I like (Caleb) Agada, JLA and (Ariel) Hukporti; I like his post moves a lot, my favourite is probably the stepback fadeaway.”

The McCroary family, along with all United’s members, will be celebrated this Sunday when Melourne takes on the Illawarra Hawks in the club's Member Appreciation Game.
