Melbourne United’s star players hit the court at Hoop City Cheltenham on Thursday in an Intra-club scrimmage ahead of the team’s elimination final against the Tasmania JackJumpers on March 5 inside John Cain Arena.
While there’s still a week until our do-or-die Elimination Final against the Tasmania JackJumpers, our guys are putting in the work early to prepare for the intensity of Playoff basketball.
Thursday saw our stars hit the court in an ultra-competitive intra-club scrimmage, with assistant coaches Rhys Carter and Jake Fleming each leading teams against each other.
Following the session, Head Coach Dean Vickerman touched on the importance of simulating what post-season basketball is going to feel like.
“(It was a) a high-level scrimmage with some really good play… We’re trying to continue to build up,” he explained.
“We don't want to peak today but we want to make sure that every time that we compete in five-on-five, four-on-four that it's at an intensity level that a playoff game is going to be so we can feel comfortable in that environment.
“So we continue as a coaching staff to just emphasize the disciplines that we need from every possession.”
After finishing the regular season with momentum, we will be looking to make history in these Playoffs by becoming the first team outside of the top-four to advance through the Play-In.
That starts on Thursday 5 March from 7:30pm when we take on the Tasmania JackJumpers inside of John Cain Arena.
