United, TAC partnering for Road Safety Round

Melbourne United is excited to announce that our 21 January matchup with the Brisbane Bullets in Bendigo will be the club’s Road Safety Round, thanks to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Like the TAC, we know that when it comes to road safety, we’re all on the same team. One death on our roads is too many and the TAC needs your help to help change the culture about road safety via its new Club Participation Program.

Operating alongside this, the TAC will be helping some young Bendigo-based hoopers get up-close to the action on gameday with a High-Five tunnel, and a Half-Time game on the court.

Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson said he hopes that Road Safety Round can help make a difference to those watching the game, either inside Bendigo Stadium or from home.

“It’s amazing to be able to promote responsible driving habits alongside the TAC for Road Safety Round,” he said.

“With fans from across the country hitting the road to come to Bendigo for this game, it was the perfect opportunity to share this message.”

Transport Accident Commission CEO, Tracey Slatter added.

“The TAC is proud to expand its involvement in grassroots sport to reach as many people as possible with the simple but lifesaving message to slow down.”

“Whether it’s players, families, volunteers or supporters, sporting communities have the power to model safe driving behaviour and create lasting cultural change.”
